Mannington on HGTV’s Rock the Block: Season 5 Finale
As Season 5 of HGTV’s Rock the Block comes to a close, the design teams were given the final task for their homes: to design and complete the second-floor lofts and laundry rooms.
Throughout the season, each of the teams had been working through their homes room-by-room and floor-by-floor, starting with the kitchens and dining rooms and moving on to spaces such as the bedrooms, the bathrooms, the outdoor areas, and a surprise dual-purpose guest suite challenge before being presented with these two final upstairs spaces.
As the finale was focused on tallying up who could add the most value to the home they’re working on, a special guest host was brought in: Jonathan Scott of Property Brothers, who would be working alongside a team of local real estate appraisers to help determine the final value of each home upon completion. (Plus, he got to tour each of the houses as they were completed, providing a fun perspective on the rooms we’d already seen completed throughout the season!)
All season long, the designers have been using Mannington ADURA® luxury vinyl flooring in many areas of the homes they’ve been working on, and we’ve had a lot of fun keeping up with how these floors have transformed the spaces they’ve been added to. Let’s take one last look at how these floors were used in Season 5 of Rock the Block!
Team 1: Page & Mitch
Marveling at the size of the space they had to work with, Page and Mitch had opted to transform the space into something more aesthetically pleasing, as many of the practical features you would want in a loft or study had been installed elsewhere. To that end, they decorated the upstairs with a coral stone feature wall, a cutout reading nook, and a larger staging area alongside a smartly-designed horizontal laundry space, all brought together with Mokuzai luxury vinyl flooring in Autumn Leaf, part of Mannington’s ADURA®APEX line, to accentuate the natural, complementary colors they’d gone with throughout the entire upper floor. (You may remember this as being the flooring they used to create the bed platform in episode 3!)
Team 2: Lyndsay and Leslie
Lyndsay and Leslie, excited to finish out the last week of the competition, chose to fill in the gaps in their home’s design by committing the upstairs loft space to be an office, the one room their home was otherwise missing. With the use of Sonoma luxury vinyl flooring in Cork, part of Mannington’s ADURA®Max collection, alongside some stylish patterned grass-cloth wallpaper, they were able to create a more fun and uplifting look in a room that’s typically considered a little more staid and traditional, while leaving plenty of space for a larger-than-normal third laundry room on the same floor.
Team 3: Keith and Evan
In keeping with their chosen style of “organic modern” during this season, Keith and Evan chose Kona luxury vinyl flooring in Sunrise, part of Mannington’s ADURA®Max family, to add a warmer touch to their loft. The loft was then completed with a built-in desk to serve as an office or a kid’s homework area. Keith and Evan’s choice in luxury vinyl flooring allowed their upper floor to remain stylish and appealing without being as risky as some of their previous home designs, such as the spa room from Season 3.
Team 4: Bryan and Sarah
Having spent the additional $11,000 they were awarded at the start of this episode on a personal jet ski (to include with their house, of course!), you could say that Bryan and Sarah wanted to make a big splash with their designs for the loft in their home. Striving to provide both looks and functionality, they chose to continue their curved wall from the lower floor up into the loft to create a statement wall with a bold, custom-made wallpaper pattern, accentuated by their choice of Swiss Oak luxury vinyl flooring in Truffle, part of Mannington’s ADURA®Max line, to create a bolder, yet peaceful and natural look for the second floor. This flooring and wall choice beautifully framed their built-in storage area and reading nook, creating an upper loft space that focused on style without sacrificing the practicality or storage that any home needs.
Rock the Block Season 5 Winner (Spoilers Ahead!)
As the dust settled, the homes were appraised, and the contestants got to tour each other’s homes for the first time, the sky lit up with the names of the winning team: Lyndsay and Leslie! The street this year’s competition was held on was renamed “Lyndsay and Leslie Lane” in their honor, and we were happy to be along for the ride and a part of so many creative and stunning spaces throughout the season!
